Wengen (1274 m) lies on a sunny plateau sheltered from the wind at the foot of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, 400 meters high above the beautiful valley below. The car free resort, steeped in tradition, offers an excellent skiing area with year round activity on the Scheidegg and Eiger glacier.
Wengen has 1405 inhabitants and offers 5,000 beds at 22 hotels and 500 holiday apartments. The top events are the Lauberhorn-Weltcup ski run and the Jungfrau marathon.
The region Jungfrau is the ideal starting point in winter. The ski area at Scheidegg has the famous departures of the Lauberhorn and Eigergletscher and many other red and blue pistes back to the village.
In January every year the Lauberhorn ski run takes place here, probably the most spectacular world cup run on the whole alpine ski circuit. But also for non-skiers Wengen offers the perfect place for rest and relaxation, with good clean air and especially long days of sunshine over the winter and summer months.
Wengen offers a variety of sports possibilities, which range from swimming, skating, mini-golf, walking, mountaineering, and mountain biking to tennis in summer. For those who like more extreme sports, the region offers paragliding, river rafting and canoeing.
